Wickham blow for Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday manager Dave Jones will have to make one change to his squad for the home game against former club Cardiff.

Jones has no new injury or suspension worries but striker Connor Wickham, who scored last weekend's winner at Leicester, has returned to parent club Sunderland so there could be a role for Gary Madine or Jermaine Johnson.

Jones will still be without midfielder Giles Coke, who missed out last week due to a foot injury.

Defender Reda Johnson returned to the starting line-up at Leicester, lasting an hour after missing the previous six games with a foot injury and he is expected to resume against the league leaders.

Midfield pair Rhys McCabe and Jose Semedo are pushing for recalls as Wednesday look to increase the four-point gap between themselves and the relegation zone.

Cardiff could be without both of their first-choice centre-backs as they look to get back to winning ways.

Captain Mark Hudson and regular central defensive partner Ben Turner are both doubts for the reunion with former Bluebirds boss Dave Jones at Hillsborough.

Hudson had to be substituted in the 1-1 draw with Leicester on Tuesday with an ankle injury and is rated `doubtful' while Turner also sustained an ankle problem in the build-up to the match and is said to be `touch and go'.

The off-form Bluebirds finished the match with Matthew Connolly and Ben Nugent in central defence and they could link up again with Kevin McNaughton replacing Connolly at right-back.

Cardiff's lead at the top of the table has been cut to four points after just one win in their last five matches.
