Onyewu faces fitness fight

Sheffield Wednesday defender Oguchi Onyewu is struggling with a virus and is expected to miss the home game against Brighton.

Miguel Llera and Joe Mattock will be hoping to return to the starting line-up in Onyewu's absence while striker Caolan Lavery faces a late fitness test after sustaining a hamstring injury in the weekend defeat at Doncaster.

Manager Stuart Gray, who has no other new injury or suspension problems, could be tempted to recall on-loan Chelsea midfielder Sam Hutchinson or Giles Coke.

Wednesday are bidding for a fourth straight home win in their attempt to climb into the top half of the table.

Brighton boss Oscar Garcia is set to make changes.

Garcia plans to rotate his squad during a tough run of fixtures, which began with a shock 2-0 home defeat by Ipswich at the weekend.

Andrea Orlandi is back in training after a thigh injury but looks set to miss out for a fifth straight match while fellow midfielder Andrew Crofts is sidelined for the season with cruciate damage.

David Lopez could return to the squad after he dropped out against the Tractor Boys and fit-again Will Hoskins is also pushing to be involved after more than a year out with a knee injury.
