Preston midfielder Chris Sedgwick has agreed a two-year deal at Sheffield Wednesday. The 30-year-old, who worked under Owls boss Alan Irvine at Deepdale, is out of contract with the Lancashire club and will officially join Wednesday on July 1. Sedgwick has started over 400 games in a career that has also taken in Rotherham, and Irvine is delighted to have captured someone with such a wealth of experience. He said: "Chris is a player I know very well from my time at Preston. I know him as a player and a professional and he has all the right attributes I am looking for. He is very experienced, very fit, has the strength of character to play at Hillsborough and has a tremendous work ethic." Sedgwick, a lifelong Wednesday fan, is delighted to have sealed a move to his hometown club. "It's great to be here," he said. "I've wanted to play for Sheffield Wednesday for such a long time so to get this sorted is a great feeling. I've supported Wednesday all my life, my family are all Wednesdayites too so to get this opportunity is fantastic."
