Hinds played 90 minutes against Barnsley on Tuesday, while Simek featured for 70 minutes against Port Vale for the reserve team.

Laws will be without the suspended Lewis Buxton on Saturday but he is pleased with Hinds and Simek's efforts as they bid to kick-start their seasons.

He told the Owls official website: "It's great news for me and the players themselves because they have worked so hard to get back to fitness.

"We all have to say that Richard Hinds did magnificently well to play in an important derby game like he did with a high tempo and confidence.

"Any player would have had the excuse to say 'I'll try and stay as quiet as I possibly can' but the fact is he pushed himself forward and was one of our most consistent players."
