Pedestrian pace in Portugal

Owls and Tigers draw a blank

Sheffield Wednesday's week long say in Portugal concluded with a drab goalless draw with Premier League new boys Hull City.

In terms of a match report there was literally very little to write home about as both sides seemed reluctant to overwork themselves and the respective goal keepers were rarely tested.

Wednesday continued to take a look at former Hull City defender Kamil Zayatte as he partnered Anthony Gardner in defence. First choice full-backs Reda Johnson and Lewis Buxton were absent once again as was Miguel Llera.

As has been the case throughout pre-season the lack of a clinical goal threat was again evident. The Owls started with pace but no recognised striker again. Gary Madine and Chris Maguire were introduced early in the second half but failed to make a telling contribution.

With less than 2 weeks to go to the start of the league season Dave Jones is expected to step up his search for a forward as soon as the squad return to England.
