Winger sidelined

Sheffield Wednesday fans have been dealt a blow ahead of this weekend’s Sheffield derby at Hillsborough with the news that Jermaine Johnson will be out for a prolonged period of time.

Owls fans feared the worst after the in-form winger limped off during the first half of last Saturday’s defeat at Chesterfield and their fears were justified today as the club confirmed that the Jamaican is likely to be sidelined for around two months due to a knee ligament injury.

JJ had been in fine form prior to the injury, playing consistently well for around a month or more in scoring goals and creating a persistent threat to the opposition and he will no doubt be missed.

His absence could see new loan signing Michail Antonio go straight into the starting line up for this Sunday’s clash with city rivals Sheffield United.
