Owls winger out for two months

Johnson sidelined for Wednesday Sheffield Wednesday’s opening day win was tempered somewhat by the news that winger Jermaine Johnson will set out the first two months of the season with a knee injury. The diagnosis is not as bad as was feared however as there was initially a worry that the Jamaican could be sidelined for around six months. Johnson has been linked with a move to the Championship over the summer but this latest setback should put those rumours to bed for a while. He picked up the injury in pre-season and missed the 2-0 win over Dagenham & Redbridge at Hillsborough on Saturday. Gary Teale and Chris Sedgwick started in the wide positions for the Owls and both played key roles in the two first-half goals. New signing Daniel Jones is also an option to play on the left-hand side of midfield and striker Marcus Tudgay has played out wide in the past when the necessity has dictated matters.
