Owls welcome Clarke back

18 January 2010 15:07
Sheffield Wednesday striker Leon Clarke will return to Alan Irvine's squad for the midweek league clash at Blackpool. Clarke, who missed the derby win at Barnsley on Saturday in Irvine's first game in charge due to a hamstring strain, is back in contention, but fellow forward Francis Jeffers is still struggling with a similar problem and will miss out. Irvine helped deliver the Owls' first win in 12 league matches at Oakwell and will not want to change his side. Midfielder Michael Gray returned after illness, while Jermaine Johnson played a more central role up front alongside Marcus Tudgay and rewarded Irvine with the winning goal. Defender Richard Hinds (heel), midfielder Tommy Miller (hamstring) and goalkeeper Richard O'Donnell (ankle) remain sidelined.
