Owls strengthen medical team

Owls manager Laws has lost more key players to long-term injury than most of his Championship rivals in recent years and chairman Lee Strafford has invested heavily in the back-up staff and their resources. Laws said: "We have had a catalogue of injuries over the past two seasons. It has been horrendous but it has been no fault of the medical team because the medical team was just one person. "In the Championship that is well below the standard, you are expected to have at least two or three physios working in any particular club. "Now the money is available the important factor is that the foundations and the resources are also right. The players now know they will have the right treatment and will have everything available to them to be fit and available for us for the forthcoming season." First-team physio Mark Palmer has been joined by a second full-time physio, Paul Smith, while former England physio Alan Smith has returned to Hillsborough as a consultant and sports masseur Derry Sutter has been recruited from the English Institute of Sport.
