Owls rocked by Robins

Bristol City dealt Sheffield Wednesday's Coca-Cola Championship survival hopes a bitter blow with a smash-and-grab 1-0 victory at Hillsborough. The Robins were up against it for much of the second half as the hosts dominated, but they snatched all three points after a fine solo goal from Nicky Maynard with 10 minutes remaining. Defeat will be difficult to take for Alan Irvine's men as they wasted a precession of second-half chances, with City keeper Stephen Henderson in inspired form. The 21-year-old made two fine saves to deny Luke Varney, while Leon Clarke, Marcus Tudgay and Darren Purse were all guilty of missing the target. The defeat, Wednesday's first in seven games, means they slip into the relegation zone with results going against them elsewhere. Life could not be better for Bristol City on the other hand as they extend their unbeaten run to five games, with caretaker manager Keith Millen only heightening his chances of landing the position on a permanent basis.
