Owls players snubbed in PFA awards

No individual recognition for Wednesday

The annual PFA awards took place this weekend and with Sheffield Wednesday currently occupying 3rd spot it would perhaps have been reasonable to assume that some of their players may have been in the running to make the League One team of the year.

The team, voted for by the players themselves, comprised of 4 players from League One champions Charlton, 3 from current 2nd placed team Sheffield United and 2 each from play-off contenders Huddersfield and MK Dons.

The fact that Wednesday could still clinch automatic promotion without having a single player in the team of year may raise a few eyebrows but also possibly highlights the strength of the team as a combined unit rather than having to rely on certain individuals.

Wednesday fans and staff alike will care not about this is they can achieve their aim of promotion to the Championship, be it automatically or via the play-offs.
