Fringe players leave Owls

Having bolstered their squad significantly over the summer Sheffield Wednesday allowed two players to leave the club today ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline.

Midfielders Diogo Amado and David Prutton have left the Owls, one permanently and one on loan.

Amado only joined the club in the summer but the youngster has found it difficult to settle in England. He had not appeared in any of Wednesday’s match day squads and he has now secured a move back to his native Portugal by joining Primeira Liga side Estoril.

Experienced midfielder David Prutton has joined League One side Scunthorpe United on a 3-month loan deal. Prutton has found his opportunities for first team football at Hillsborough increasingly limited under Dave Jones. He has been selected as a substitute this season but finds himself behind the likes of Semedo, McCabe, Coke and the currently injured Lines in the pecking order for a regular central midfield place.

The decision to let 2 midfield players go will increase speculation that Dave Jones will look to strengthen in this area before the transfer window closes on Friday night.
