Owls kick-off with Tykes derby

The Owls travel to newly-promoted Peterborough for their first away match the following weekend and then take on Newcastle at St James' Park in their first midweek clash three days later. Manager Brian Laws' former club Scunthorpe visit Hillsborough on August 22, while the first Steel City derby is scheduled for Bramall Lane on September 19. Wednesday play the third of six local derbies in the Championship next season at Doncaster on December 8 and after a home clash with Newcastle on Boxing Day travel to Barnsley (January 16) and Scunthorpe (January 26) in successive matches. Doncaster visit Hillsborough on February 16 and the return against the Blades is in the penultimate home match (April 17) before a final trip to Cardiff (April 24) and a last-day clash with Neil Warnock's Crystal Palace at Hillsborough on May 2.
