Sheffield Wednesday are looking towards Portugal once more in their attempts to bolster their squad ahead of the new season.
Having signed Portuguese midfielder Diogo Amado this week the Owls are now taking a look at Slovenian international Nejc Pecnik who has played for Portuguese Primeira Liga side Nacional since 2009.
Pecnik is a creative attacking midfielder who has represented his country at full international level on 15 occasions, scoring 2 goals. His most important goal came in the play-offs for qualification for the 2010 World Cup when he netted in the 2-1 away defeat to Russia. Slovenia won the home leg 1-0 meaning that they qualified for the World Cup finals by virtue of that away goal.
Dave Jones will take a look at Pecnik as Wednesday step up their pre-season training regime. Another trialist, former West Ham forward Marlon Harewood is continuing to impress and is likely to get a run out in one of the club’s local pre-season games next week. Former Cardiff playmaker Jason Koumas is also expected to be training with the Owls later in the month.
