Wolves stopper joins Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday have today confirmed the news that was widely reported last week that Wolverhampton Wanderers centre-back Roger Johnson has joined the club on a 3-month loan deal.

The move has been in the pipeline for some time with the Owls looking to bolster their defensive options. Dave Jones recently lost the services of Anthony Gardner for a number of months due to an achilles injury and the club allowed Martin Taylor to go on loan to Brentford last week.

Johnson has previously played under Dave Jones at Cardiff and has represented Birmingham and Wolves in the Premier League. The 30-year-old is closing in on 500 career appearances.

Johnson will contest for a centre-back role with Kamil Zayatte and Miguel Llera and Jones will be hoping the addition can help shore up a defensive unit that is yet to keep a clean sheet this season.
