Owls boss wins monthly gong

The former Preston boss, who was sacked by the Deepdale club in December, only took charge at Hillsborough at the beginning of the year but has won four of his first five games.[LNB]The wins, which began with creditable results away to Barnsley and Blackpool respectively, have helped the Owls pull five points clear of the relegation zone.[LNB]Home wins over Peterborough and Plymouth Argyle followed, furthering his case for man of the moment, beating Cardiff's Dave Jones, Nottingham Forest's Billy Davies and Scunthorpe's Nigel Adkins to the award.[LNB]Alan Curbishley, chairman of the Manager of the Month Awards panel, said: "Alan Irvine has done remarkably well in double-quick time since taking the reins at Sheffield Wednesday.[LNB]"His side are now out of the relegation places and can look forward to the rest of the season with great optimism."[LNB][LNB]
