Owls boss optimistic about Sears
Laws wants Sears, 19, who has also been in talks with Peterborough, on a season-long loan.
Laws told BBC Radio Sheffield: "We are in with a shout of signing Freddie, but there are other clubs interested in him too.
"Freddie is currently on holiday, but we will meet up again when he gets back."
Peterborough chairman Barry Fry claimed last week Posh had been pipped to the signing of Sears as West Ham favoured a more lucrative offer from the Owls.
