O'Connor targets Reading scalp

Wednesday are just a point clear of the drop zone following back-to-back home defeats against Doncaster and Ipswich, while Reading are also struggling at the wrong end of the table and are only a point better off than the Owls.

O'Connor, who took over as captain in the absence of Darren Purse on Saturday, told the Sheffield Star: "We need six wins (for safety), whether that's here at Hillsborough or away. We need to get them as quickly as possible.

"It's a huge game for us at Reading, it really is. Hopefully we can do to them what Ipswich did to us."

O'Connor admits there is still plenty of room for improvement after the display against the Tractor Boys, and added: "We need to be braver on the ball, take an extra pass; it seemed we were almost panicking a bit in trying to get the ball forward too quickly.

"That extra pass could move them around a bit; I don't think we did that often enough. I'm sure it's something the manager (Alan Irvine) will say to us this week."
