Morrison: I couldn't refuse Owls offer

Sheffield Wednesday's latest signing Clinton Morrison turned down several Championship clubs before signing a two-year deal at Hillsborough. The 31-year-old Londoner, out of contract at Coventry, was so impressed by Owls manager Alan Irvine that he opted for a move further north to help Wednesday bounce straight back to the npower Championship. Morrison told the club's official website: "I'm happy to be here, Sheffield Wednesday is a massive club and the fans are brilliant, so hopefully I can score goals for them. "The manager told me he wants me here and how I figure in his plans. I'm a person that likes to be loved and wanted and he's shown great faith in me out of everyone that's wanted me this summer. "There's been Championship teams that have wanted me, but I'm willing to drop down to League One and Sheffield Wednesday because that's how big the club is and how good I think the manager is. "Sheffield Wednesday shouldn't have gone down last season and that's a fact. The players that they had there, they shouldn't have gone down and with the players he's brought in they should win the league, there were no worries about coming here."
