Morrison eyes starting berth

Clinton Morrison has vowed to win a place in Sheffield Wednesday's starting line-up after scoring "one of the best goals of his career" in the win at Hartlepool. The former Crystal Palace, Birmingham and Coventry striker stepped off the substitutes' bench midway through the second half in Saturday's 5-0 win and curled home a superb effort from an acute angle in the last minute. Morrison said: "It was one of the best goals I've scored in my career. I just thought I would curl it and was happy to see it go in. "I've been frustrated being on the bench, but I know why. The gaffer has explained it to me, I'm not 100% fit, but I'm slowly getting there and when I do, goals like that will be coming all the time. Morrison added: "If a striker tells you he's happy to be on the bench he's lying. I like my football too much to say I'm happy to be on the bench. All I can do is get fit and the gaffer has said when I do get fit, it's up to me to force my way into the team. "I've come here to play football and that's what I want to do; play, score goals and do well for the fans and the team, but I'm still building up my fitness."
