Sheffield Wednesday new boy Neil Mellor has spoken of his delight after arriving at Hillsborough on a season-long loan deal from Preston. The former Liverpool man, who is now away with the Owls squad for a pre-season training camp in Austria, is looking forward to being reunited with his old boss Alan Irvine. "I'm very excited to be here. It was a long time trying to sort out a deal but it's done now and I can't wait to get started," he told Wednesday's official website. "The size of the football club was a major factor for me coming here. "I've played at Hillsborough in the past and the fans have always been superb. So I'm hoping for a successful season. "I'm sure the fans will support us with big crowds. I'm dropping down to League One but it doesn't bother me that much because this is Sheffield Wednesday. Alan Irvine and the size of Sheffield Wednesday were the two main attractions."
