Mellor aiming for start

Sheffield Wednesday striker Neil Mellor is pushing for his first league start of the season against Brighton. Owls manager Alan Irvine has no new injury or suspension problems but could be tempted to hand Mellor his chance. Mellor has started as a substitute in Wednesday's two league games so far, with Clinton Morrison partnering Marcus Tudgay up front, but the on-loan Preston forward stepped off the bench to fire a late equaliser at Colchester last weekend. Irvine will again be without Jermaine Johnson as the winger continues his rehabilitation after damaging knee ligaments, while midfielder Tommy Miller has not yet fully recovered from a hamstring strain. Summer signings Daniel Jones and Paul Heffernan and midfielder Darren Potter give Irvine further options as the Owls look to secure a second straight home league win.
