Megson expresses relief at win

Gary Megson was relieved to get his first victory as Sheffield Wednesday manager as the Yorkshire club recorded a first win in 11 games in a 1-0 victory against Carlisle. Wednesday frustrated a Carlisle side lacking in creative ideas and played to preserve the 20th-minute lead given to them by Tommy Miller, who crashed an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net from close range. "That's our first win for goodness knows how long in the league and it's a big plus for us to have kept two consecutive clean sheets," said Megson. "I'm delighted with the players' honesty because they looked a little bit jaded and we will have a couple of days off. "After five games away on the trot everyone is sick of being on the bus and we need a break from the travelling, which takes it out of you. "Carlisle played some decent stuff but most of it in front of us. They had huge pressure and put a lot of balls in but our back four was terrific."
