Megson blasts poor Owls

Sheffield Wednesday manager Gary Megson was furious with his side's display after they were beaten 3-1 at home by Brentford. Goals from Michael Spillane, Jeffrey Schlupp and Sam Saunders gave the Johnstone's Paint Trophy finalists victory to leave Wednesday, whose solitary reply came from Rob Jones, hovering just above the relegation zone. Megson said: "It was poor. We didn't play with any enthusiasm, desire or drive and that's what you need in this division. "Some of the things that go on at this football club beggar belief. People should want to play at Hillsborough. There are ones who are ducking it because they're not making tackles. It makes you angry because the ball is there to be won. "We've got to play with a lot more fluency. It looks slow and laboured but we do everything at tempo in training. We've got to grind out as many points as possible from the last eight games."
