Gary Megson heaped praise on his Sheffield Wednesday side after describing the 1-0 victory over city rivals Sheffield United as the biggest result of his managerial career.
Chris O'Grady's 73rd-minute header settled the Steel City derby and saw the Owls climb up to third in the table and to within two points of their neighbours.
"I've had some results at other clubs which were hugely important but no game has ever meant more to me than beating Sheffield United in a derby game," said Megson. "The tempo, the battling and the scrapping was fantastic."
He added: "I thought it was a fantastic performance from us in terms of how to win a game. We played it properly and I don't think anybody could have asked for more. The second-half was nigh-on one-way traffic.
"It was a marvellous goal. Chris has his critics. He doesn't score loads of goals but you wouldn't want to play against him every week."
Megson added: "We've got a together dressing-room. I push these people like they've never been pushed in their careers. There's a great deal of honesty and pride from them. They know how much it means to me as a Sheffielder to win that game."
United boss Danny Wilson felt his side should have been awarded a penalty in the first-half following a challenge from Danny Baath on Ched Evans.
"It was a blatant body-check on Ched Evans, there's no doubt about it," said Wilson. "But I thought the referee (Mark Halsey) did very well. He lets the game breathe and that's why he's a top referee.
"We're bitterly disappointed but we're still in a very strong position. We've got a tough match coming up against Scunthorpe on Wednesday night and we've got to try and get back to winning ways now.
"It was a typical derby game and there were a few chances for each team. I thought we defended very well. The lads did well in that respect. But we opened a little door for them and they took the opportunity. Sheffield derbies are special days. The atmosphere is absolutely fantastic and they're games you want to be involved in."
