McAuley: Toon clash can lift us
The Owls are currently trapped in the Championship relegation zone, having taken just two points from their last 10 games.[LNB]Following Saturday's 2-0 defeat at home to Swansea, McAuley admitted his players were low on confidence, but he expects them to rise to the occasion for the visit of the league leaders.[LNB]He told the Sheffield Star: "The Newcastle game hopefully will take care of itself; Wednesday have to perform.[LNB]"It's on Sky, there will be thousands of Newcastle fans there and our fans will add to the atmosphere and get behind the team. It will spur everybody on."[LNB]McAuley's sentiments were echoed by captain Darren Purse, who added: "We proved earlier in the season we can play well and get results. We need that win; hopefully it will come on Boxing Day."[LNB][LNB]
