The 21-year-old, who last appeared for the Owls off the substitutes' bench against Charlton last month, was reinstated in midfield for Saturday's 2-0 win over Crystal Palace and responded with the game's opening goal.

McAllister said: "I've been knocking on the manager's door this week trying to fight my case saying that I wanted to play, so I was delighted when I was put in the team.

"I've been frustrated over the past two games and felt that I should have got on the pitch at some point, but it wasn't to be, but I know there is good competition for first-team places.

"We're just going to take each game as it comes now, we've got a difficult run-in coming up with Wolves and Reading, both at home and I know they are going to be tough games."

McAllister added: "I think I do get into good positions and it's a case of taking my chances when they come and that's what I want to work on - taking those chances when they do arrive."
