Laws unhappy to see Owls fall

Former Sheffield Wednesday and current Burnley boss Brian Laws was disappointed to see his former side get relegated to League One. Alan Irvine's men were demoted to the third tier of English football as a 2-2 draw with relegation rivals Crystal Palace on the final day of the season was not good enough to keep them in the Championship. Laws, who was sacked as Owls manager halfway through the 2009/10 season, revealed that he expects Wednesday to bounce back, but added that in order for the club to be successful in the future, they must have a stable financial set-up. Laws said: "I am gutted for them and for the supporters. It is a fantastic club with brilliant support. It's a shame but that's the way it's been since they have been out of the Premier League. "Until they get some solid investment they are always having to rise above expectations. Certainly in the time I was there we had to over-achieve every year that went by. We were successful in doing that. However it is still disappointing to see it happen in such a way but they will bounce back. "They are a good bunch of people. They will be one of the favourites to come straight back. I worry for the club itself if this investment does not come in. That would put a huge strain on the club. Let's keep our fingers cross that comes through for them."
