Laws admits future in doubt

Steve Howard was given his first start since October 20 and scored City's opener on eight minutes with a close-range header from Matt Fryatt's cross.[LNB]Andy King made it 2-0 with a clever flick on 25 minutes and sealed the win on 74 minutes after substitute Ryan McGivern's cross was half cleared, the loose ball deflecting off Howard for King to side-foot home from 12 yards.[LNB]Wednesday are now without a win in their last nine games and have failed to score in their last five.[LNB]Laws said: "Our supporters don't deserve what they saw in the first half, our defence was all over the place.[LNB]"Our performance at Doncaster on Tuesday (a 1-0 defeat) had given us heart and belief that we could come here today and get a result, but the first two goals we conceded were so bad they were almost comical.[LNB]"We have to believe we can turn this round, and I believe that we can, because the hole we are in is getting deeper."[LNB]Asked if his future was in doubt, Laws replied: "I can't answer that question because I don't make those decisions, but results like today's don't help.[LNB]"We are in a rut, no question about it, and we have to turn it round as quickly as we can.[LNB]"But if results keep going on as they are that doesn't help me and I can't be more honest than that."[LNB]Leicester assistant manager Craig Shakespeare saluted Howard's performance.[LNB]He said: "All the staff are delighted for Steve. He came into the fray and scored his first goal of the season and we hope he can kick on from here.[LNB]"We thought Howard playing with Matty Fryatt was the right format today and you could plainly see that they enjoyed playing together."[LNB]Wednesday went into the match with an unchanged side but Leicester manager Nigel Pearson made four changes to the team which lost 3-1 to Bristol City in midweek, with Fryatt, Howard, Bruno Berner and Lloyd Dyer coming into the side.[LNB]And after seven minutes Pearson's shake-up paid dividends.[LNB]Referee Carl Boyeson allowed play to continue after Matt Oakley was fouled, allowing Fryatt to run out to the byline and chip the ball onto the head of Howard.[LNB]King doubled the home side's lead in the 26th minute, rolling home a loose ball in the area for his second goal of the season.[LNB]Laws decided to alter things as the first half came to a close, bringing on Tom Soares and Michael Gray for Darren Potter and Jermaine Johnson, a decision met by a chorus of boos and chants of "You don't know what you're doing."[LNB]But after the break the changes seemed to be working and Sean McAllister came close to pulling one back for Wednesday as his goalbound shot was well blocked by Michael Morrison.[LNB]The Foxes wrapped up the win when a superb team move saw the ball break to King, who finished smartly from 12 yards out.[LNB][LNB][LNB]
