Koren leaves it late

West Brom moved up to second in the Coca-Cola Championship but they left it late to claim a 1-0 win against struggling Sheffield Wednesday. The Owls had not lost at The Hawthorns since 1975 and they had plenty of chances to maintain that record, but Baggies substitute Robert Koren made them pay with a stunning long-range strike 12 minutes from time. The Baggies missed chances through Chris Brunt, James Morrison, Graham Dorrans, Youssouf Mulumbu and Luke Moore in the first half while Tommy Miller headed over for the Owls Ishmael Miller, who came on for the ineffective Luke Moore, fired inches past the post and should have done better with another effort shortly afterwards after Jonas Olsson had seen a header parried by Lee Grant, who pulled off a string of fine saves. A goal finally arrived in the 78th minute from a superb passing move. Morrison played the ball to Dorrans who in turn fed Koren 30 yards out and he lashed the ball past Grant for his fifth goal of the season.
