Johnson out - but hopefully not for long
Injury not as bad as feared Sheffield Wednesday winger Jermaine Johnson has had his latest injury diagnosed as a grade one hamstring tear and as a result he is expected to be out of action for around two weeks as confirmed on the club’s official website, www.swfc.co.uk JJ limped out of the 2-2 draw at Preston North End during the first half on Tuesday evening and there were fear that the hamstring strain could keep him out for the remainder of the season. The Jamaican international recently spent around six weeks out with a hamstring injury but this time around the problem is not as serious and the injury sustained was not a reoccurrence of the old one as it was his other leg that was affected. Whilst losing Johnson for any period of time is obviously a blow the timescale for his return is shorter than was initially expected and he could be available for the two matches within the Easter weekend and if not then at least for the final three games of the season. The Owls will have to cope without him for at least the next three games – Derby and Watford at home followed by Coventry away. Etienne Esajas staked a claim to replace JJ by scoring for the reserves in midweek and other options open to Alan Irvine include Tom Soares and Michael Gray.
