The former England striker was rested for Saturday's 1-1 draw at Peterborough owing to a knock he has been carrying, but he is set to come back into Brian Laws' thoughts at St James' Park. Laws will be without Leon Clarke and Akpo Sodje, though. Clarke has not played this season due to a hamstring strain while Sodje has also failed to appear this term due to a groin injury. They are likely to be in contention for Saturday's visit of Scunthorpe but as a result of their absence, Jermaine Johnson could again be pushed up in support of Marcus Tudgay. The Owls have drawn both of their league games so far this season, with the Peterborough game succeeding a 2-2 draw with Barnsley on the opening day.
