Irvine: Wins behind new confidence

10 February 2010 15:10
The Owls secured their fifth league win in seven matches with a 2-0 victory over Blackpool and have clearly rediscovered their self-belief under the former Preston manager.[LNB]Irvine said: "I know a number of the lads have come out and said that their confidence has come back but they should be more confident because of the way the results have gone.[LNB]"The wins are the key thing. I don't think they would be feeling confident if they had lost five out of seven games and they deserve the credit for the way they have performed."[LNB]Irvine was also delighted his side kept their first clean sheet in 14 matches as they climbed up to 18th place in the table, albeit only two points clear of the drop zone.[LNB]He added: "The lads deserve enormous credit for what they've done. The first thing I said to Lee (Grant) was 'there you go, there's your clean sheet'. We've come close, we've conceded a couple of late goals and he's been very disappointed after the games, so it was nice for him."[LNB][LNB]
