Irvine rues lack of a goalscorer

Sheffield Wednesday manager Alan Irvine concedes his side's relegation struggles have been borne out by the lack of a consistent goalscorer. Last season Marcus Tudgay finished top of the scoring charts with 14 but this time around he has managed only nine, with on-loan Luke Varney scoring the same number. Fellow striker Leon Clarke and winger Jermaine Johnson have netted five and six respectively. Irvine said: "We're getting the same question every week. Of course it's a concern but what more can you do other than keep on working as we do daily on the training ground on players' finishing? "After training we have players staying out on the training pitch doing individual finishing exercises. But when you know there's 20 shots coming out on the training ground it's quite easy to be composed. "But when you're in the thick of the game and all of a sudden something falls at your feet, then that's a little bit more difficult. The people who have got that composure play in the Premier League."
