Irvine praises matchwinning Owls pair

Alan Irvine has saluted Sheffield Wednesday`s goalscoring duo who responded to his tactical changes by securing a much-needed 2-0 win at Notts County. Marcus Tudgay was switched from attack into midfield as the Owls chased their first win in six league games, while Darren Potter came off the bench just after the hour mark to prove his worth. Both players struck in the second half at Meadow Lane, and Irvine said: "I know that Marcus will always put a good shift in and he did that again. I actually thought he had more attempts on goal from midfield than he has recently as a striker. "I fancied Marcus to score from that position. I told him so before the game and he did. "For Darren, that was a fabulous way to answer his critics. He did very well when he came on in the second half. "He has responded very well to losing his place in the side. He's a quality player and will play a very important part for us this season."
