Irvine instils belief

Sheffield Wednesday striker Luke Varney feels manager Alan Irvine has instilled the Owls with a new-found self-belief. Varney's third goal in two games could not prevent them going down 2-1 at Nottingham Forest on Saturday, but the on-loan Derby forward is confident Wednesday will bounce back in their next three matches, which are all at Hillsborough, starting with Blackpool in midweek. Varney said: "With the mentality that the gaffer had instilled is us we believe we can get a result anywhere. We deserved at least a point against Forest and we fancied our chances going into the game." Varney added: "Now we've got three home games in a row, we'll be looking to force the issue. "We'll regroup. We're a confident group and I'm sure we'll put it right on Tuesday."
