Sheffield Wednesday manager Alan Irvine paid tribute to Neil Mellor after he scored a hat-trick of headers in the 4-1 victory at MK Dons. Mark Carrington put the Dons ahead but Wednesday always looked on top once Luke Chadwick's own goal put them ahead following Mellor's equaliser. The former Liverpool man netted again twice to go into double figures for the season. Irvine said: "Neil has been doing a lot of hard work which enables him to get chances. "For me, the biggest part of his game is his effort and all the running that he does. "He works so hard to get into positions to give himself a chance and he shown what a good finisher he is, which I have said many times."
