Manager Alan Irvine is keeping a watchful eye on teenage midfielder Liam Palmer with a view to promoting him to the Sheffield Wednesday first team. The 18-year-old has impressed for the reserve side this season and was an unused substitute in last weekend's defeat to Ipswich. Irvine is keen to promote the club's youth team players and sees Palmer as one of the shining lights. "Liam did well in the reserves last week. He made two goals and scored one and put himself in contention," he told The Star. "He's trained with us quite a lot and trained very well. He's a young lad who shows a lot of promise."
