Irvine concerned at Wednesday morale

Sheffield Wednesday manager Alan Irvine is worried about his players' "mental fragility" following a third successive league defeat over the weekend. Irvine began his tenure as Owls boss with three straight wins, but watched his side crash 5-0 at Reading on Saturday, their heaviest defeat of the season, as they slipped back into the bottom three. Irvine said: "If we have the right character in the dressing room we'll come out fighting, if we don't it could be a bit more worrying. "We'll look for ways of making sure that kind of thing doesn't happen again, in terms of the tactical and organisational side. "But it comes from within, the courage and willingness to take responsibility. "I don't think that as a manager or a coach you can instil much of that into players. It comes from within."
