Irvine closing in on signing No 8
Sheffield Wednesday manager Alan Irvine aims to complete his eighth signing of the summer next week.
Just as when he lured Chris Sedgwick, Jon Otsemobor, Paul Heffernan, Daniel Jones, Giles Coke, Gary Teale and Neil Mellor to Hillsborough, Irvine is keeping the identity of his target close to his chest.
He told The Star: "I am hoping we will have something next week. I am as confident as you can be.
"There are a couple (of players) who are possibilities but nothing that will happen while we are in Austria."
