But with his contract set to expire in the summer, Hinds is keen to make up for lost time and secure his long-term future with his boyhood club.
He told the Sheffield Star: "We haven't talked about a new deal yet; it was all about me getting back, first; that's been my main goal.
"Now it's a case of looking towards the next goal and seeing what happens. I'd love to stay. It's a fantastic club. When you're playing in big games with the crowd behind you, that's what it's all about. .
"I'm playing for the club I love. I think any footballer would want to play for the club he has always supported - I've been fortunate. I want it to continue for as long as possible."
