Finances will determine Varney stay

Varney, who has scored three goals in 12 appearances since arriving on loan from Derby in August, is scheduled to return to Pride Park in January.[LNB]When asked if he will try and sign him permanently, boss Brian Laws said: "It goes two ways here, one - absolutely no chance if we don't get new finances ourselves because as it stands, Luke Varney has not just got this season but a further two years with Derby County.[LNB]"They will want a sizable fee to recover some of the money back they have spent on him. So if we get the finances in place to do that, that's the only way we will get him on a permanent.[LNB]"But we could possibly still have him on loan for the second part of the season, there's still that opportunity and that's the avenue we are looking down currently.[LNB]"It's just a matter of waiting and seeing now. We're hoping finances come in before January but if they don't we have to look at what we have got and try and keep him on loan."[LNB][LNB]
