Sheffield Wednesday make the short trip to Scunthorpe on Tuesday evening as they look to keep up the pace with the automatic promotion contenders at the top of League One. A disappointing haul of just 1 point from a possible 6 in the last 2 home games means that only a win allow the Owls to move level on points with Huddersfield and Sheffield United while Charlton have given themselves some breathing space in top spot.
Jamaican winger Jermaine Johnson will be hoping for a place in the starting line-up after coming off the bench as a half-time substitute to score in the draw with Hartlepool on Saturday. Defenders Reda Johnson and Rob Jones both picked up knocks in the weekend game and their fitness will be assessed with Miguel Llera in line to ply should either fail to make it.
Ryan Lowe could be in contention to make a return to the starting 11 as the Owls look to be more clinical in front of goal.
Scunthorpe suffered no fresh injury or suspension concerns following their weekend draw with Stevenage and former Sheffield United trainee Jordan Robertson could come into contention for a place in the squad as he has made a return to full training after an injury lay-off. Defender Christian Rebeiro, on loan from Bristol City, could also return for the home side.
The Owls may take some encouragement from Scunthorpe’s poor home record during the current campaign as they have won just 2 of 13 league games on home soil to date, losing 5 of them.
The Iron are unbeaten in their last 4 matches but 3 of these fixtures have resulted in draws.
Despite the recent dropped points at Hillsborough the Owls are still in contention for an automatic promotion spot and their away form has seen them win 4 of their last 5 league games on their travels.
Wednesday have a pretty dismal record at Scunthorpe. In 7 visits to the Iron they have only won once and that was way back in 1958. The Owls lost 4-2 at Glanford Park in the League cup last season and also lost on their last league visit in 2010. They have however already beaten Scunthorpe this season winning 3-2 at Hillsborough in August.
