Boss hails Owls` improvement

Sheffield Wednesday manager Alan Irvine praised his players after defeat at high-flying West Brom for showing a marked improvement in their last two displays. The Owls bounced back from a recent 5-0 thrashing at Reading with victory over Leicester on Saturday and turned in another encouraging performance that was blighted only by West Brom midfielder Robert Koren's 79th-minute winner. Wednesday remain in the bottom three, but Irvine, confident his side can survive, said: "I can't criticise the players. "They were terrific the way they went about things and if we go about our jobs like that every game between now and the end of the season we will be fine. "Things are looking an awful lot better since we lost at Reading. It has been a great response by the lads. "We had to bounce back and the lads deserve enormous credit for the way they have come back. That is the right way to go about doing your job."
