Beevers backs Sedgwick

Summer signing Chris Sedgwick will be a fans favourite at Sheffield Wednesday, according to Owls defender Mark Beevers. Boyhood Wednesday supporter Sedgwick, who played under Owls boss Alan Irvine at Preston, is one of four new arrivals at Hillsborough during the close season. Beevers will meet his new team-mate for the first time next week when Wednesday begin their pre-season training. Sedgwick, a two-time promotion winner at neighbours Rotherham, can operate on either flank or slot in the centre of midfield, and Beevers believes his versatility will prove to be a major bonus in the club's quest to bounce back to the Championship. "I'm sure the fans are going to absolutely love Chris," Beevers told The Star. "The fact that he supports the club will clearly endear himself to the fans. "He seems like a very versatile player and I've heard he can play anywhere in midfield. We haven't got one of the biggest squads in terms of size so Chris' experience is going to be invaluable."
