Atkinson linked with Owls return
Former Owls manager Ron Atkinson is treating an approach to join the board of directors at Sheffield Wednesday with some scepticism.
A consortium interested in taking over at Hillsborough, fronted by Rotherham-based businessman Spencer Fearn and backed by property developer Colin Hill, the former Peterborough owner, has confirmed contact with Atkinson, 71, about a possible return to the club as a non-executive director.
But Atkinson, who had two spells in charge of Wednesday and led them to a League Cup triumph in 1991, said: "Over the past few years five or six people have come to me with ideas like this, so we shall see what happens.
"Let's leave it at that because, at the moment, it's all hypothetical."
