Another Owl makes team of the week

More recognition for improving defence Sheffield Wednesday earned the praise of the football league for the third time in recent weeks as another of their defenders was included in the Championship team of the week. The team, as chosen by the Press Association and released on the football league’s official website has this week included Eddie Nolan at right-back. The Irishman joined the Owls on loan from boss Alan Irvine’s former club Preston and suffered something of a baptism of fire early on when he came into the side for the 5-0 defeat at Reading. Since then however he has settled into the side and has had  particularly good week personally, producing an accomplished display in the 1-1 draw against Coventry at the weekend having scored the opening goal in the crucial midweek win over Watford. Nolan is the third Wednesday defender to be included in the team of the week over the past month, following on from Darren Purse and Tommy Spurr. The Owls have one of the worst defensive records in the division but have shown clear signs of improvement in that department since the defeat at Reading and this has enabled the club to go on 5-match unbeaten run. 4 of these games however have been draws and Owls fans will be hoping that some of the team’s attacking players can make their mark in the final 6 games as they look to secure their Championship status.
