Tranmere Vs Wednesday: Team news and preview Sheffield Wednesday travel to Tranmere on Tuesday evening with more defensive problems to add to their woes. The Owls have being searching for a solution to the problems that have seen them fail to keep a clean sheet in ten league matches but they will have to do without Lewis Buxton for this clash. Buxton, who has been the Owls most consistent defender this season has been dogged by hamstring problems throughout the campaign and the injury has flared up again. Reda Johnson, Richard Hinds, Tommy Spurr and Jon Otsemobor could all come into contention to play in a defence that has conceded 2 or more goals in each of the last 6 league games. Elsewhere in the team Gary Madine is expected to start in attack having impressed as a substitute in the 2-1 defeat at Rochdale on Saturday and Isaiah Osbourne may get a start in the centre of the park as Megson may look to give his back line some added protection. Tranmere could include new loan signing Robbie Weir in their squad after the midfielder joined the club until the end of the season from Sunderland. Young striker Dale Jennings is likely to miss out due to a groin injury but experienced midfielder Alan Mahon may get a chance to feature from the bench. Ex-Owl Marlon Broomes is unlikely to feature for the home side but Enoch Showumni, who had a short spell at Hillsborough during 2007/08 may start after scoring at the weekend. Wednesday are looking to put an end to a run of 6 successive away defeats in the league whereas Tranmere are unbeaten in 4 matches and would fly above the Owls in the League One table with a win. The two teams are yet to meet this season and last faced each other in April 2005 when Tranmere won 2-1 at Hillsborough. They have met on 8 occasions at Prenton Park but the Owls have failed to win their since their first visit way back in 1939.
