Speed wants more from Blades

Sheffield United manager Gary Speed admits his side need to improve if they want to avoid a relegation battle this season. The Blades were beaten 1-0 by Coventry after Gary McSheffrey headed the only goal of the game midway through the first half. Speed said: "It's deja vu, but I can't keep saying that. We can't keep blaming bad luck or saying that things are going to have to go our way at some stage. "I've got no qualms about the players' attitude or application, none whatsoever. They are hungry to do well but we have to improve in other areas. "We are in a scrap now and we've got to roll up our sleeves and fight. We'll do that without a shadow of a doubt. "I'll carry the can. That's what being a football manager is all about. I'm not going to shy away from it."
