Simonsen states case for defence

Goalkeeper Steve Simonsen has praised the efforts of the Sheffield United defence after they kept their second successive clean sheet against Derby on Saturday. The Blades made it two 1-0 wins in a row and Simonsen believes a solid back-line is vital to any team aiming to be successful in the Championship. He told the club`s official website: "The lads always feel confident we won't concede with the rearguard we have got because it is so strong. At the other end, if we keep creating the chances then the goals will come, we are sure about that. "We have got Nyron (Nosworthy) and Kyle (Bartley) who knew the club from last season and they are very strong. If there is a problem then with someone like `Morgs' (Chris Morgan) we have players who can slot in and do a very good job. "Obviously having a settled defence is a huge bonus and it helps the whole team but you can't compensate for injuries and suspensions so we need that strength in depth for when the problems arise. "Our defence is probably the strongest part of the team at the moment."
